It's so easy not to try
Let your life go drifting by
But if you never say "hello"
You won't have to say "goodbye"
Your life goes ever,--ever on
Without a purpose or a cause
But you're so very dear to me
You never cease to set me free
Through all the sorrow and the pain
This world can never be explained
Through all the sadness and the grief
Our life on earth is surely brief
When all is done and all is lost
You and I will soon be gone
But you'll never have to cry
My love for you will never die
Like winged birds we both shall fly
To a land where nothing dies
And we shall never have to part
For you're forever in my heart
It's so easy not to try
Let your life go drifting by
