[bodytext] => Abeyant under my cloak of darkness
I lurk just slightly beyond your mortal grasp,
envisioning the corruption before me
through these abhorred blood-red eyes.
More often than not I do encounter
that violence and suffering surround me,
I see how my evil presence does endure,
like a vulture - it circles the cloud plagued skies.

From deep within the forlorn realm
or your weak and disillusioned minds,
I foreshadow images of wealth and lust
from which it is futile to try and hide.
When my cauldron of eternal hatred
imminently boils over into the fire,
it is at the thresholds of indecision
that your worlds will always collide.

Hymns to a god virtually unknown to you
enthrall your reclusive sense of honor,
while remnants of a righteous life you covet
are drifting away into the lonely night.
It appears to me that you find it easier
to bow down and beg for forgiveness
than to resist all of my temptations,
captors of sin - you are always in my sight. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 224 [topic] => 13 [informant] => ManowarManiac [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

This one is very well written by you Paul. It conjours up vivid red, shadowy yet firery images!
I do have just one question though. If you do not believe in this darkest of forces, why do you refer to it in your comments as 'him'?
With love
Dean

Uhh, I don't know why I did that, I guess I am just thinking in a Christian sense even though I am an atheist. Thanx for commenting on my poem by the way. Paul

This is a great poem, I like it when poets write in different perspectives, sheds some light into the other dark corners of the mind.
