they lift me up into the air,
into the air and over the trees,
they lift me up into the breeze.
And a poet's laureate sweet comfort brings,
I am so happy my heart sings,
with joy for all, love not withstanding,
I'll pray for all not demanding.
On whimsical wings I do not fly,
living only to comfort when you cry,
of broken hearts and you're last respite,
I'll offer you hope so you can take flight.
On my hands and on my knees,
I shall purge you of your disease,
and in the night there shall come no harm,
as long as you're wrapped in my arms.
Free as a bird who feels no pity,
they all fall for you because you're so pretty,
and you feel so bad to turn them away,
if it were up to you, you'd let them stay.
So in the end we'll all be alone,
we always seem to be so far from home,
and I really don't want to let you go,
especially after I let this grow.
My infatuation pure and true,
the one that has fawned after you,
I pine and wait on this course,
only to be left full of remorse.
I bid you good-bye a fair adieu,
and pray that God looks after you,
sweet child no more, a woman depart,
I will keep your love, locked up in my heart. [comments] => 1 [counter] => 265 [topic] => 2 [informant] => CodyJ [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LovePoetry )

I love the diction and I love the theme. Sometimes it's good to escape; I know I yearn for it. It's pleasant to read a few lines and do just that. I enjoyed it, thank you.
