I say hello and our eyes dont meet,
Is it alot to ask for a hello back,
You dont waste your breath, Im dressed in black.

I pull up through the fumes and stop for a red light
you pull up beside me and you die of fright
"Don't look at the bad man" I hear you say,
then you pull off on your way.

I get to work and shake off the cold when a grumpy man walks in
and shouts "you're a racist", with his forehead an inch from my chin!,
I look in his eyes, what can I say,
I smile and pipe out "have a nice day".

Work is over and I get to the bar,
and forget about you, your hate and your cars
as the cool beer washes away the fumes and the lies
In come my friends black clad, with smiles

This monotonous existence you lead,
from cradle to grave, you all rush at top speed
feigning ignorance of what’s right and wrong
I dress in black because gladly, I don’t belong.

This reminds me of my latest poem, Dress In Black... and I must say, I love the last line! "I dress in black because gladly, I don’t belong." I understand what you're saying all too well! Great write, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Brilliantly penned.

I however can think only of the masked men islamic thugs, and worse yet, women veiled with their eyes only showing and possibly hiding a dagger beneath the shrouded garments.
These images come to mind - cannot help it.

Thank you for composing and sharing!
