i seek the endless sleep
a dark mossy blanket
to hide me from pain
the pointed sword of loneliness
pierces my soul unto death
yet silence envelops me
as the conqueror of love
leads me to my grave

a voice on distance hilltop
howls causing much distress
exiled by his own doing
forlorn and merciless heart
repeats sad beating melody
for no one to hear

the gloomy veil of ending
wraps it’s black silk web
around me like a burial cloth
to shield me from men’s eyes
who could not love me in life
but weep over me in death
your tears are wasted here
as I lay down to rest
in death’s sweet slumber

Dear Mer,
You get the big chair......all to yourself my dear. As you reward that it!
Dark poetry can really come through!
I could see me doing all of this...at one time
I used to think if I died they'd be sorry, but it doesn't work that way....you have to go on living day by day.
This was a fantastic poem Merry.
Thank you for sharing
ConSue
