how you both once were,
then think about that words you spoke
which broke the heart of her,
and I ponder on that silly kids rhyme
that we've always known,
the one re-
'Words not hurting us
like a stick or stone?'
Well...
I wondered if the person
who wrote that little rhyme,
had ever heard a cruel word said
to thread throughout their time?
And I doubt that they ever had
for then they would have known...
how words can break
much Stronger stake than
merely mortal bone.

Words can break an Empire
and lose a Queen her throne,
WORDS can tear a forest down
where ONCE great giants have grown.
Words can smash a little child
to fill their mind with doubt,
and words can steal the love they feel
for...EVERY word has clout.
Sentences and rhetoric,
can be harder than a stick,
and verbs and nouns
can make you sick
when agressively they shout.

I would pick a stone or stick
to hit me on my bones...
rather than ANY *Man's
cruel,hard- worded ,tones.

Words can batter hopes and goals
and fracture substance inside souls.

Words can crumble governments
humble Kings ...and Presidents.
Words sadly too often spill
when alone they should chill.

And now upon this photo
of the two of you I weep,
for she lys broken in her grave,
your WORDS alone,
her own
... DEFEAT.

(just want to clarify my meaning of this....
*Man's =* mankind=human kind.)
p.s.

I really want to hear the story behind this... It was wonderfully written. Such truthful words too.

I totally agree about words hurting more than sticks and stones. In a totally different way too. I liked this write. Sad. Take care.

Emma.
