Wouldn’t it be super,
If there was a superman,
If just like Rhett and Scarlet,
We didn’t give a damn,
And everything would happen,
Exactly as we planned,

Like in the movies,

Our lives would be the kind,
That everybody would admire,
We could re-shoot every scene,
That didn’t meet with our desire,
And just a sultry look,
Could turn the coldest heart to fire.

Like in the movies,

If things went wrong then we could have,
Them written out the script,
We wouldn’t put on weight,
If we ate cake and chocolate chip,
And there would always be a stuntman,
On hand on hand in case we slip,

Like in the movies

Where youth would bloom eternal,
And our beauty never fade,
The things we really love,
Could be repeated and replayed,
And we could edit out the scenes,
That hold mistakes that we had made,

Like in the movies,

But life is not a movie,
It’s a struggle to survive,
There’s no best actor nominations,
When the tears flow from your eyes,
And no-one wins an Oscar,
For this drama we call life,

Like in the movies,

There’s no-one waiting in the wings,
To cover your mistakes,
No stuntmen to take over,
When your heart’s about to break,
Or choreographer mapping out,
Each step that you should take,

Like in the movies,

But wouldn’t it be wonderful,
If Wonder Woman lived,
If everything you wanted,
Was within my power to give,
And the script could be rewritten,
To end when you forgive,

Like in the movies,

I wish that happy endings,
Really did exist,
It’s seldom that a movie,
Will ever end like this,
They all have happy endings,
And a lingering lovers kiss,

In the movies,

Not at midnight in the forest,
With a rope tied to a tree,
Wishing I could change the way,
That things turned out to be,
And wondering if they’ll ever make,
A screenplay out of me,

For the movies.
