Array ( [sid] => 28930 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Imaginary Refuge [time] => 2003-12-08 21:09:00 [hometext] => I think everyone has their own place to go when life is unfair, whether they retreat to a place or within their mind. This one didn't fit into any particular category, as far as I could tell. [bodytext] => Summer's green leaves say goodbye
Autumn's winds mournfully cry.
Winter's cold ends
And spring's life comes;

Never let yourself forget
I remember how the river runs.

Water freezes into ice
Deathly grip of a vise.
Fire leaping ever higher
And there are no signs of stopping;

Never let yourself forget
That I am always watching.

And escape to your imaginary refuge
The place in your mind that escapes the ruse
Of the world's own condemned
So many there's no more angels to send.

Never let yourself forget
More than one thinks it's the end.

But summer's leaves come by and by,
Autumn's winds cease to cry.
Winter's cold warms to spring,
And spring is what winter will bring.

Never let yourself forget
More than one will start to sing.

Then ice melts into water
And cold grip gets hotter.
Fire dies to ember,
So much you can't remember.

Never let yourself forget
That peace was once dismembered.

And return from your imaginary refuge
Say farewell until the world resumes
It's own making of damnation
Though the angels will still strive to revive every nation.

Never let yourself forget
This so oft infringed relation. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 157 [topic] => 25 [informant] => Eve [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => MiscPoems )

Excellent melding of complexity, emotion, and vivid imagery. I can still see it all when I close my eyes. Very unique structure, as well. Simply masterful.

Keep writing, lest ye dwell forever in reality,
-V.S.

I particularly enjoy the expression of change through words. Seasons have a profound impact on people because of the connotation associated with each one, and you utilized that perfectly. The concepts here in this poem are blended with an admirably wielded rhyming scheme, allowing the reader to envision everything you attempt to convey.
