Array ( [sid] => 29368 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => WINTER'S WAR [time] => 2003-12-14 17:03:29 [hometext] => Wyoming winters bring on terrible warfare. In our yards, on our windows, trees, and frozen ground all around! [bodytext] => 'Tis a busy mid-morn, forlorn, a war is being waged.
My front yard, and house is the battlefield!
Everyone, everything is now enraged!
Ice on the ground, trees, fence, windshield.

Frozen water sparkling sabers,
shivering with outrage!
Frame the windows and fall
from the gables....
Commanded to hang imminently
ready for carnage rampage.
Dripping with hate, knowing no fables......

Jack Frost to them is real, short lived, sun melts!
Constant below zero temperatures take their toll.
No sunshine warmth to thaw squirrels pelts.
Likewise the ground so frozen, so be Mr. Mole!

Mr. Cardinal has taken sides against Mr. Blue Jay!
The corn they love frozen stiff....no give away!
Little ants are dying in their nests, frozen!
No defense their tiny tots....die slowly
without action!

Amidst this warfare, I feel helpless,
with indignancy.
I raise my eyes to the sky to plead, for some decency!
The blue sky is shattered, with clouds
frozen and battered!
Jack Frost has also reached the heavens,
all is tattered!

I mercifully pray, for a warm sunshiny day.
And yet when they hear my pleading words,
they say,
"Please don't pray that way....for a sun's ray,
don't you understand, it's a dead give away?"

The moans, the outcries, the agony is all I hear!
Some may be saved, a few, but most we fear,
will die a slow death, of warm thawing,
"Meltingness!"
When Jack Frost returns tonight, it will be
the end of us!

Walking inside, I know they're right,
I close my door.
With humans you concentrate on saving
some, amour.
With nature their fight of existence
involves much more!
A magic wand would be nice....waved just
once to melt the ice!
Waved twice to keep Jack Frost at bay,
for yet another day!

Another amazing write for the 'critters' lady
--------------------------------------------------------
You really have to wonder how
this world has lasted up to now,
With ice and snow, the barren waste,
A great big nothing interlaced.

"Praying can't change the rules " Connie...................(my first poem on YPDC)

But it's an awful time when the warming oceans are so far away and you are on the high plains.
