A young girl stares back at her, not a mother or a wife
She thinks of all the fun and adventure what happened to all her plans
Her carrier, her fairytale romance, rose coloured cottage in cannes

The young girl she use to be many years ago, is no longer there
The slender figure the sparkle in her eyes reflects her tender care
The moon and the stars at night no longer look quite as bright
She sits and reminisces alone with thoughts at the end of the night

The rippling water upon the lake still holds beauty for all to see
She looks at her reflection a young girl lost a girl once so free
There were so many paths for her to have chosen, so many to take
One with diamonds and pearls, alas just sparkled reflections on the lake

Once so sweet and innocent with hair so shinning, so soft and fair
Pure innocence thoughts of sunday school also called the house of prayer
Running through open fields, jumping over streams, hair blowing in the wind
Not a care in the world a heart so full of song, so many songs to sing

Through closed eyes the white water rapids looked rougher by the second
Feels as though her thoughts are gushing, she is being slowly beckoned
The lake so icy her footsteps sound like water through cracking glass
Drowning in her memories of a child so happy in her sunday school class

Childhood reminiscences are great if one is in a good mood, When one is feeling sad or lonely they can become a problem.Angek it was a very good ending to a sweet bitter poem. Hugs from bernard.
