[bodytext] => My old Grey "Tony Cat" had lived to be fifteen,
He was the biggest old loving Tom Cat,
I"d ever seen!
I'd dress him up in my doll clothes,
He loved the attention, and would pose....
as my Mother took our pictures together,
For hours I played like he was my baby.
In the garage....in all kind of weather.

He never scratched, nor cried, only sighed.
As I wrapped him, napped him, rocked him,
and sang to him, by his bedside.
Small doll bottle, he drank from, holding it
securely between his paws.
Had to be nice warm milk, he'd
even drink it from straws.

When it came time for him to potty,
which was quite often......
He'd not take time to undress, nor cry out
in distress, he'd fly like an "Airman!"
I'd chase him to get back my doll clothes,
But when he was finished, coming right back
to me is what he chose.

A big old blistery sore appeared on his cheek.
My Mother was a nurse, she said it looked bleak!
The sore broke, and drained but never healed.
I know he hurt, he didn't want
to play, he repealed!

He crawled off into my Mother's
rose bushes, to hide!
I'd run home from school, to be by his side.
I ran home one day, and my
"Tony Cat" was not there.
I hurried inside the house, to look elsewhere.

By the icebox, I saw the covered box.
I didn't even have to lift the lid,
I just saw it's color brown.
I knelt down, and sobbed until I thought
in my own tears, I would drown.
My hurt was so great, my heart shut-down.
I knew my "Old Tony Cat"
was gone, no renown.

My Mother sat by me, and this is what she said,
"You loved that Tony Cat so much, no dread!
Always remember Connie Sue
as you love, then do.....
If you always love with all your heart,
and then you lose, you know
you've done your part!"

No reservations, no doubt, complete trust, is
what my love is all about.
Even knowing that someday, I might lose out.....
I love with all my heart, soul, and might!
That's simply my delight!
Then if I do lose, I know, for me,
I've done what's right!

'Mate, got a lump in my throat over this one Sue. Terrific write.

Must mention my email program failed yesterday. Went onto my server, went through all the checks but it turned out the fault is in
the "Outlook Express" program. I have to pull it out and reload it .
I'll have to chat to my expert "Total Computing" (I may even get a new main drive)
because I'm getting a bit fed up with this one.

Oh I felt your poem to my very roots...
I can think of no mere words to do it justice but I will remember this poem for a long, long time to come.

This is sad. Yet, I love your style, your meter, your rhyme and your words tell a story.

Great write!
