Array ( [sid] => 31858 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Poppy [time] => 2004-01-16 16:25:43 [hometext] => This poem means the most to me out of all mine. I wrote it shortly after my Grandfather died in a tragic car accident. He meant the world to me and was pretty much my father. I read this before the family at his funeral. I still fight tears when I read it [bodytext] => The phone rang out and she called for me.
I hurried to find why she yelled painfully.
We cried as I drove, pain in out hearts.
I drove and drove, trying not to fall apart.
As we parked and climbed out, I still had hope.
Let it be a minor or even a major injury. We can cope.
In through the doors and shuffled into a small room.
This is not happening, not this soon.
He's invincible I confirmed, he can't be hurt.
But there was a doctor, my beliefs for him to convert.
My heart sank low, as if hiding away.
"I'm sorry, he didn't make it", I heard him say.
No! No! My Poppy! Why, God, Why?!
My eyes welled. My heart shattered. I began to cry.
And so I sit here and type three weeks later.
This heart of mine holding a giant crater.
I try to fill it with memories and poems like so.
But my Poppy is gone, and that's all that I know.
He's been there when I am sick and there when I am sad.
Through all the good and bad times that we've had.
So as I grow old and think back, I'll remember him as this.
Poppy, my Grandpa, the only true dad there is. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 282 [topic] => 38 [informant] => lostinlimbo [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Tributes )

This poem was very touching and brought me to tears. your poppy would be very proud of you. to lose someone you love is the worst thing in the world and the pain and emptiness you feel is unbearable, so i hope that in time your pain heals.i send you best wishes for the future. take care KAL.
