Array ( [sid] => 32043 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => TWO RED SNAKES [time] => 2004-01-18 19:39:46 [hometext] => I have two big red snakes, that keep me warm in winter, and cool in summer. I couldn't live without them, and now you too can have two! [bodytext] =>
I simply couldn't survive a winter
without my two red snakes.
Chills, ills, earaches, cold toes,
Wrapped around my neck, around my feet
even around my elbows!

In my Mother's day, they used hot stones.
Slide them under the covers,
better even than hot horomones!
In the summer when sweating profusely
under your frocks?
Do them up right, lay them flat
in the freezer or icebox........

No air-conditioner can even come close......
Instant relief, instant coolness,
"Heavenly Fellows!"
When the North winds blow a furious storm,
with temps falling down below........
Microwave the red snake, for a few minutes,
holding him to your chest,
no longer below zero!

My red snakes are so easy to make.....
I'll leave these instructions
so please don't forsake.
I use knee socks, wool, or something heavy.
I fill them about 3/4 full with rice,
just so they are flat and not bumpy!
Sew the top securely, make
sure there are no holes.
Use for years in all kinds of weather,
"Soul Consoles!"

I give them for gifts, and people
just love them!
You'll agree your little snake is so rare...
'tis like a gem!
People in Wyoming wave a special goodbye,
they always end a conversation with
"Stay Warm?"
I just love to reply,
"I surely will, I sleep with snakes!"
And that's no lie!

"I wish you see their facial expressions
when I tell them I sleep with pythons!
At least that's what they think?"

IN the beginning I thought you were speaking of REAL snakes and got the shivers. It is a grand idea that you have and I bet everyone loves them. Very cute, unique poem.

Critters Lady, the usual delightful poem.
-------------------------------------------------
If I had snakes I'd sure have shakes,
But as you put it, sense it makes,
And if and when the cold it gets,
Red snakes cover all the bets..

He he hee...I was a bit dumbfounded in the first reading of your poem...so many thoughts yucky and unrefined came to mind...but reading in to the end I burst out into laughter with no end...a nicely done and wonderful idea in requiem.
