living what was once a dream
as they trek in search of their enemy
through forrests and streams.
Soaked,chilled and wretched with..
guns and bombs and all their battle-gear
young men talking amongst themselves
their faces covered in mud
concealing all their fear.
"I wrote a letter last night" one said
"To my kids and my wife,
just in case this was the last day
that i'd be here on earth
that i'd live my life.
Told them that i loved them
and that tears for me,they needn't cry
for its freedom we are fighting for
to give our kids a better life."
The words of one soldier
silenced another fifteen
looking back on the past was easy
yet being there made their future's left unseen.
The smell of fear among them
the sound of raging rivers running deep
despite the danger these men faced
a continuous heart beats.
Knowing they will soon face the men
who will also fight and kill to die
and at the end there will be nothing
but a field where a thousand brothers lie.
Approaching their enemy
with their organized,strategic plan
they will fight to their deaths
until the winners are left to stand.
Peeking over sand hills
as not to catch the enemies stare
silently awaiting to attack...
enemy unaware.
They didnt seem to make sense of war
or see much of a solution
in fighting off and killing eachother
with such an ending,
such a sad conclusion.
They say the men before this generation
the men who fought and were victorious in their win
were the men who shared their stories
for these young men to die in,
but back then their was no choice
they were doing what was considered right
which was doing what is wrong today
going out to fight.
what does war prove? what does it determine?
Yes,these men were brave
but such a cost it had left many
for the brave men are now...
lying in their graves.
Brothers killing brothers
they say it's okay this time.
Why? Because in the eyes of mankind
fighting in the war..
makes murder,not a crime. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 250 [topic] => 32 [informant] => Demon [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )
