To love someone like you
A wintry October it must have been
Sitting outside the music block
When your eyes glanced over
And caught mine

People began to laugh
They said it was “only a crush”
Something I should get over-
“Forget about”
“You don’t even know the guy”
“Move on”

It made me so angry
They couldn’t see what we saw-
A love meant to be
So strong from the very start
Something they wouldn’t understand
Only when they dream for

Now three months on
And were stronger than strong
A bond no one imagined for
A love so right
Neither you nor I
Would have dreamt of

Yet still they criticise under their breaths:
“Hopeless romantics”
“Foolish love”
“It will never last”
“They can’t be in love”
“When will she move on?”

But as I sit here now surrounded by them all
And their jealous thoughts
I smile and laugh
Just knowing what its like;

They say im mad
To love someone like you

Very nice write. Listening to friends always seems to wreck things. I'm happy for you that you endured and made it. Nicely done. You conveyed the idea very well.
