Array ( [sid] => 33234 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Fighting against yourself [time] => 2004-01-30 14:19:49 [hometext] => I wrote this poem when I wasn't in a good mood, it just felt right at the time. I didn't actually do any of this [bodytext] => Gripping it tightly,
A memory of you.

Like throwing a ball attached to a string,
Your face keeps coming back.

Struggling to make ends meet,
To make you see me,
For what may be the first time.

Like fighting a loosing battle,
The outcome is inevitable.
You've been branded in my memory,
Like a scar,
That doesn't allow anything in,
Not even sunlight.

There is only one way to remove you,
By removing myself.
With the barrel of a gun,
Pointing to the back of my throat.
No, it's not worth it.
I remove the shotgun from my mouth.

I hold my breath,
But my oxygen deprived lungs only fight back.

Suddenly,
As if a message from God,
You softly touch my shoulder.
As I turn I am greeted,
Not by the usual smile,
But by a tear moistened face.

What have I done?
What was I thinking?
I dont want your memory to fade,
For it is what keeps up together,
Even when we are miles upon miles apart.
It's what gives me a hug when you are out of arms reach.

As I wipe the tears from your eyes,
A single tear forms and falls from mine.
You smile,
Ohh how I love your smile... [comments] => 2 [counter] => 142 [topic] => 48 [informant] => intelectualpoet [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 3 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )
