Array ( [sid] => 3640 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => To My Grandad [time] => 2002-09-10 20:38:41 [hometext] => A poem about one of the few men i will never forget.I have had some great men in my family, all who have now passed away but I hope and pray that I don't let that pattern fade with me... [bodytext] => You always brought me joy and hope
You always touched my heart
like you did for everyone
just by being who you are
Few can find the warmth in others
like the warmth i found in your embrace
alot go through life without seeing the beauty
that i saw apon your face
A life of caring and love you offered
to those around you...
you kept on giving
with me you gave me reason
reason to keep on living
When we used to go for walks
unlike mine...
your steps were slow and short
Id have to slow down for you..
nearly all the time
"Slow down boy!" youd say
"Who do you think i am?..
Im old and frail yet wise my boy..
But im no Superman!"
It used to make me laugh
the first time i laughed so much i cried
then slowed down for you
with your arm locked in mine
Occasionally you would stop and pause
to gaze up at the stars
looking so sad..
youd choose the brightest star
and say it was my Dad
You'd say he was looking down on me
and that he and God had made a decision
where they will soon be calling someone
and that someone would be him
You explained how God would look down
on his beautiful garden with positions vacant
and that you await your message
that would soon be heaven sent
You held my face in your wrinkled hands
and told me not to weep
for when somebody dies
they are merely just asleep
Peacefully..
Sometimes you wouldnt even know me
and when i brought you your little hat
You turned to one of the nurses
asking "Who is that?"
and even though at times i felt like crying
because of the fact you couldnt remember
I knew that the love we shared
even if unknown to you right now
would eventually shine in you forever.

This is such a wonderful tribute to a wonderful I am sure. I am sure she shed a small tear either reading this, or looking down on it from heaven, wherever she may be. A great read on my behalf, and a great write on yours.

Poetic Dreams Always,
Jazz

It's BEAUTIFUL tribute, written by a beautiful soul. Your father and your grandfather would truely be proud of you,and your abilities to express yourself.
