[hometext] => Not what I'd call a "poem", but.... oh well, eh? :)
[bodytext] => Standing alone on a city street
With a sunken soul and my heart in my eyes A kind stranger approached Tender demeanor, soft face His only question, his gently spoken words to me "Is it that bad, child?" A large black hand enveloped my small white one He only had to look in my eyes to know that it was Struggling to get past the lump in my throat, I could only nod He didn't try to fluff off my pain, to offer condolances or to give me the famous line "It's in God's hands." All he did was hold my hand, gaze into my eyes and show me that I wasn't alone in this world Kindness soothed pain Black reached out to white Heart touched soul. For this small measure of kindness I am grateful.
