Array ( [sid] => 39105 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Ode to a Pink Heart [time] => 2004-03-17 23:40:18 [hometext] => You see little pink bubbly hearts everywhere these days and they start to lose their meaning, and seem ironically heartless..... [bodytext] => Ode to a Pink Heart

Tell me, pink heart, have you ever once been blue?
Are you always pink or can you let yourself shine through?
Are you maintaining your existence for someone else’s sake?
Aren’t you tired of being happy? Aren’t you sick of being fake?
Symbolizing love’s innocence, so easily overlooked.
Devouring your image we have too often overcooked.
Doodled on the pages of a teen’s quaint fairy tale.
You standby in silence as your happy promise fails.
So cute, so sweet, aren’t you just so nice?
But who can help but wonder, is it’s worth the final price?
Twisting our reality to make it all seem so perfect.
Altering our perceptions so we can’t see that it’s not worth it.
Pink heart, so cruel and black, you ignore our broken cries.
Our hopes flattened by your selfish wit, your jealousy, your lies.
Enraged, the pages are torn and thrown into the fire.
Flames lick the ink that once wrote of desire.
Ruined in the ashes lies the end of childhood dreams
So tell me, pink heart, are things as rosy as they seem?

Ode to a Pink Heart

Are you always pink or can you let yourself shine through?
Are you maintaining your existence for someone else’s sake?

Ruined in the ashes lies the end of childhood dreams
So tell me, pink heart, are things as rosy as they seem?
