Two halves of the equation.
Only by going through one can you reach the other.
Life...an open field filled
with an infinite number of wonders to explore.
Death...a locked door that opens
when you can do no more.
You try and live your life to the fullest,
doing anything and everything that you can think of,
but you wind up passing on
from this world just the same,
and you realize that nothing you accomplished in your life
will make a lasting impression on anyone or anything.
People who knew you will forget you,
while they remain vivid in your mind's eye...
but that's just crazy, isn't it?
Everything you do makes an impact,
whether you realize it or not, right?
Sometimes I'm not so sure...
Does anything I do really make a difference?
Will my death mean anything,
or will it just be another statistic?
I want an answer, but nobody seems to know.
It feels like a million shards of broken glass,
tearing and ripping at my insides.
I wish I could make it stop,
but the only way that will happen is if I give up,
and I'm not willing to give up.
Not now, not ever.
Not until I get the answers I seek,
the answers I need to survive. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 217 [topic] => 61 [informant] => MrWrite [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => selfstruggles )
