[bodytext] => ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Emerald Eyes

I chose to lover her
Chose to pursue her heart
For once I glimpsed it
I had to know it, every part

She needed to be loved
Needed to know she was special indeed
And so I set out to show her
To satisfy that need

What I did not foresee
What I did not comprehend
It would be her love
That saved me in the end

From the beginning she saw me
As I wanted to be seen
And I loved my reflection
In her eyes of emerald green

And it was the love of my reflection
Her wonder and surprise
That caused my love to err
And let to our demise

My heart began to want her
My thoughts willingly to stray
When I should have been her friend
I could not look away

I betrayed her trust
By selfishly claiming her as my own
Making her fall in love with me
While all along I had known

God had sent me to her
To reveal Him from above
To let her know she was indeed
The subject of His love

He warned me time after time
But I would not let her go
Stubbornly I held on
Loving her so

Until He made me realize
By holding on to her so tight
I was keeping her back
Shielding her from His Light

At last I have awakened
God has made me understand
And I will obey
His warning and command

And tho I see her eyes no longer
My selfishness and greed are past
I will cherish her love always
The memories forever will last

I will trust in Gods love
To at last set her free
And my heart will remember
Emerald eyes loving me
