Oh! Lady of the forest, Queen of the Wild!
Thou seem to be vanished from the sight
Art thou afraid of the cunningness of men?
Thou were never seen among the villages
Once thou hast appeared before a mountain cave
Seated on the back of a lion waiting for some one
When I neared thou did vanish, and
Later thou were seen bathing under a waterfall
With lustre of beauty and laughter of sun shine,
Afterwards I have seen you sporting in the midst
Of a flowery bower with a beautiful little fawn,
When I neared thou hast disappeared with a smile.
Thou art the beautiful daughter of Mother Nature
Often times the grasshopper replies and swells
The shrill cicadas voice seeming to sound
The tinkling bells of thy feet unseen all around,
Yonder someone’s cattle seem to graze, and
Here some one seems to call his cows, and there
Some body hath felled the trees to destroy peace
In the eve I fancy somebody screamed in the woods.
Thou art the goddess who never slays any one
Except when a murderous enemy approaches
Thou art the bounteous lady of the great forest
Thou art the wealthy queen of all sylvan beings
Man eats thy fruits and then takes away thy wealth.
Thou bestow peace and rest to the birds and beasts.
For ages thou hast become a source of inspiration
To sages who pursued lives in quest of the eternal truth.
O Bride of love and peace! Vouchsafe thy presence
Along with elves and fairies who live in thy service
May thou hold me in thy sweetest embrace
As thou dance with me in a lovely moonlit night
And then in thy balmy lap allowing me to take rest !

Thank you my esteemed friend. This is an honour for you to repost this for us to read. I had not gotten that far back in your work. This is, by far, the most exquisite piece of work you have written. The beauty wrapped in these words in indescribable. It made my heart yearn for the innocence of the land and naievity of humans before we started to destroy her most beautiful treasures. Thank you.

Rita

Dear and kind sir Venkat,
I'm so glad you pointed this out to me. It is simply lovely. I got lost in your forest, with the tree so protective over the birds, and even with you allowed in it's palm! Thanking you so much for drawing my attention to this most splendid of all poems.
I will never forget this Venkat.....it will remain one of my favorites of yours! forever.
Poetic hugs
