Autumn in Sydney is incongruous, discreet
As trees shed their burden in the breeze,
People complain about the heat
While they rake up carpets of red and yellow leaves.

Children are still swimming at beaches,
the cresting waves looking far too cold,
But the warm sun shining on the water
turns all to liquid gold.

Northern seasons are clear and precise,
Spring buds then dies in the Fall
There is Summer's heat, and Winter's ice,
But Sydney blends them all.

Here, hailstones in Spring force a retreat,
Winter suffers drought
-El Nino and La Nina can't be beat,
We just have to wait them out.

And in Autumn,
While leaves tumble to their graves,
Sydneysiders frolic like
Seals in Pacific waves.

Autumn in Sydney

Autumn in Sydney is incongruous, discreet

Great tribute to Sydney Spike. My Nephew and his Wife both live in Sydney and my Brother in Littlewood, Southwest Australia. I have seen many films and photo's of your fine country but I have never been there, Perhaps in my next life who knows?

This is an excellent piece from you Spike.How beautiful and graceful your words are chosen with each verse.You have painted an image of Sydney in Autumn so brightly in my mind,with each design so vivid in my dreams,you have made me escape the bland of my mind and inserted me into the intense graphic of yours.

Ah, Autumn! *romantic sigh*

This one was just as lovely as Sydney in Spring, although it didn't paint as many varied images. I quite liked the contrast in the last verse between the dead autumn leaves tumbling to their graves, and the Sydneysiders, presumedly very much alive, frolicking amongst it all. Seems to give such a vibrancy to the season... People usually forget that it's a season traditionally marked by decomposing vegetation. Again, thanks for the awesome write :)

Thought I'd visit Sydney in its budding state of being.
'Cause I done visited T.J. Wanns and Sydney in the Spring. I'll go to winter when it comes, then when summer comes around I'll swim Spike's words that cause me be Australia summer bound.
