Everytime I sit alone, I feel swamped by loneliness.
Like a black cloud hanging over me,

Then it suffocates me,
Enclosing its sticky walls around me,
Until I cannot breathe or fight it.
I have to collapse, give in to it.

My enemy and yet my only friend.
When there is no-one there for me,
The sticky walls can be comforting.

I feel trapped by my life.
You cant escape yourself.

Loneliness has been a friend and an enemy to me too... I can relate to the emotions felt here... I've felt them at one time or another in my life as well...
Very well expressed... I'm very impressed...

I'm sorry that loneliness is such a big part of your life, I hope that you can find someone special to share your life with. Even though its a a horrible thing to feel you expressed it brilliantly here. Keep it up.

you're right. you can't escape yourself. that's why you have to rise above yourself and believe that you will see another day. i personally understand the grief and despair you are going through. i myself have been in that black cloud for three years running. i made up an agreement to life and signed my name three times. i really have only me. that's how i feel. please keep in touch. i will tell you more about myself. try and make you feel safe talking. promise. keep trying. never be afraid to tell how you feel. negative or postive. but believe you can overcome.

it amazing to find someone else that seems to unerstand how lonliness is suffocating, yet it can be so addicative when the only person you want can't come, can't ease you. then all you are left with is the lonliness which is always there. sleep is the most lonely time of all.

this poem is now being published in an anthology called Circle of Lif- out on October 1st for 15.99!! WOO HOO!!!
