It was not a kindhearted good-bye
Posturing with anger
Standing
Curtains fluttered behind you
I watched the cat lick its whiskers
While I tried not to cry
Sunset came through the open window
Washed us in golden light
Good night
Good bye
It's not the same thing
My lip trembled
Your mouth was an arrogant slash
Leaving me wounded
My own fault
I should have listened
Warning bells
But I was overconfident
Connected to all the right people
You simply resented me
Refused to step up
Preferring to take your meals with the dogs
I ridiculed your rebellion
Watched you try to be unique
Tiresome after so many attempts
In the end you ate alone
I went on to dinner at the McPherson's
That was the end of it, the last time we argued
Then we had nothing left to say

There is little then can singe the soul like the words...good bye. You have captured in this , a moment in time that I have known too often, and captured it perfectly.
Your talent never ceases to amaze me.

Wow. Such a stark feeling. That sense of ending in more than just the words.
Good night
Good bye
It’s not the same thing
My lip trembled
Your mouth was an arrogant slash
Leaving me wounded

These are my favorite lines, but the whole thing is great.
Stitch

such detail you took me right there I could feel the haunting sadness in each word. relating to this with goosebumps. your talent is wonderful but the pain that inspired the hurt in this poem is not right for you to go through..............
