Yoruba
you are my answer.
When asked who was the sky
Olorun
you are my answer.
When asked who ruled below
Olokun
you are my answer.
But still I spit,
I spit at those who are in disbelief,
spit at those treading on my feet,
they know nothing of me but my external front,
internally I am in peace, over is the Hunt.
Why should I explain, this bracelet on my wrist.
Why should I explain, how our ancestors concealed,
through the rain will be revealed
and in every day gone by,
they will always question why,
I chose not to just be led
force fed
a Christian Beef Burger of lies.
Slowly I grew to despise,
The way I had to believe in something before I was even born,
Looking back at all those Nativity plays I simply cringe and scorn.
I have found a faith that I feel is truly me,
A tradition that worships nature,
The ocean and the trees.
With this I am content, but I do not need to share…
If you find it uninteresting I can’t explain how much I do not care. I think you did a great job explaining how you feel in this poem. We all believe in something but it doesn't have to be just one God or even a God. We are human beings we are all indivduals (sorry if spelling is wrong) and thats what makes each of us great. keep up the good work! -Stace-
