A feeling
Of heavy eyes
Is nudging
As I sit by
The glowing logs
This cold night
That not-alone
Feeling
Turns my head
To the door
That creaks
And slowly
The hinges squeak
And ache
I bolt upright
And admit
To being curious
And scared
And calmed
In the instant
The cold and damp
Frail fur paw
pats the door
And my heart
