Went to a party the other nite.
It was out of sight!
Faces lit up at our costumes
at that Star City nursing home.

My soul was touched beyond compare
at what I saw there.
Old folks walking around
with hearts that frowned

No wonder their eyes didn't shine
their alone inside.
Cast aside like an ole shoe
with nothing else to do.

Sweet ones, just 'cause you're old
don't clam up and fold.
Your wisdom is priceless, you see?
So share it with me.

awww this one made me smile emy....
it's so sweet and kind and---
okay, you're gonna think i'm stupid but,
i reckon it's cute.
most of your poems are always cute...

it's a very heartfelt and honest poem but also in a way heart-wrenching just thinking about the old people all alone...
i think the flow in this poem was magnificent

and i loved the way you managed to portray the true meaning behind the poem so deftly.

beautiful, sweet and yes, i insist CUUUUTE write hehe....

Hey,
Emystar,
Nice little tail to tell.
I liked the moral of it.
That is what I felt.
Good job.
Peace and love to you

Emy you have hit the nail on the head with this poem on old people. Most of them just bottle up inside their true feelings and they have so much wisdom to impart. They only need some-one to listen to them. I know for I once worked in a geriatric ward. Thanks for reminding me. greetings.

bernard.

Oh little Emy,
This is the sweetest most touching poem I've read.
I used to volunteer there, and they really do have heavy hearts, but not when I was there. I used to have more fun with them. Some of them weren't as old as myself. They no one loves them. Poor Dears......I used to come out of there each night playing hopscotch on the stars......to make them feel better lifted my spirits too.
Wish I could give you a 10 for this one.
Excellent doesn't even come close
that's my girl

It is truly sad. The majority of them just sit there, cast aside, waiting to die. They have so much wisdom and knowledge and love to share. That is why I am taking care of my Mom at home so she doesn't become a statistic like that. Can't stand the thought of her in one of those places.

Oh Emy This One Is So Sad..But Written So Well...... It Reminds Me When I Worked In A Nursing Home I Would Sit Outside During My Break Hours & Listen To Some Of Them Tell There Stories & Some Of Them Would Really Make You Stop Cry & Think !!!!!! They Are So Pitful All Alone No One To Care For Them Half The Time !!!!!! My Mom Or Dad Will Never Be Placed In A Nursing Home As Long As I'm Still Alive !!!!!!!!!

i love old people they are so cute... i used to volunteer in the nursing homes ... but now i havent had time... they have such interesting stories to share... but i feel so bad for them.. especially some of them with alheizmars ... its so sad... i remember this one lady was so upset when i left... she started to cry and was like you'll come back to visit me right?? and i told her i would... but i failed to keep my word... i got caught up in my own life and i feel terrible that i never got a chance to stop by and say hello... its a shame... if you ever got a free moment take the time to go into an old folks home or a hospital and talk to the patients... you'll bring them some sunshine to brighten their day... and that my friends is the best gift of all :) :) :)

Insightful as usual,as people get old they do tend to think and feel like everything is over and done.
Even the best of us need reminders that we still have alot to offer.Well done.

I just had to read this one emy i was drawn to it cause i connected with this poem only to well. Widom? hummm i wonder, you ever try and share with any one especially of a younger generation? all you get is you don't know what your talking about. I think old people sit and stare cause they realize it's pointless to get involved where one isn't welcomed any more. Life is generational, i feel like they do and i'm not in a nursing home. No longer can i be out there doing what i realy love and was born to, playing music and being on stage, cause the prouduct is still good as ever but the packaging does meet todays standard of being young. kind of makes me wonder why i did it all in the first place. i love your writting cause you deal with life itself and people listen and respond. beautiful work you put foward on a regular basis. keep up the good work. and thank you again for your comments on my poems i so deeply appreciate it, means a lot to this old person.
