changes the basic principles
of what or who we used to be.

Yesterday, the new you shined through.
Even you hate what you've become.
You just don't know it yet.

How long does it take
for a normal girl to turn into what you've become?
I never noticed a transition.
Neither did you.

How long does it take
for a precious girl to depreciate in value?
Apparently for you, not very long.

For years, I've put you above everything else.
Even myself.
Funny, how no one ever noticed.
Maybe I was wrong in doing so.

No, why was I wrong in that?
I really do care about what happens to you.
Even if you don't.

My love for you shone through.
Even I was blinded from it.
You just didn't see it.

To the girl I thought I knew.
Apparently I was mistaken.
I don't know you anymore.

To the girl I thought I knew.
What could lead you down that broken path.
Even with the protection you refuse?
Oh yeah, that's right, no one ever listens to the one that is right.

No one ever listens to me. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 160 [topic] => 44 [informant] => ReachingZero [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 3 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Nostalgic )

"Oh yeah, that's right, no one ever listens to the one that is right." - This line hit me, and just made me realize that so often in this world, the truth is rejected because people are content with their evil ways. Good luck with your friend. There's still hope. Find the girl you used to know. Good poem. Heartfelt.

RZ... I know these feeling all too well. The person you thought you knew becoming something or someone they dont even like, but they just dont realize it yet. Yeah, that person was me and it took someone really important to me to say that I had lost respect in myself and so had he, to change me. Thank you for sharing this. You are an excellent poet. Great write.

Lindsey
