remembers the dandelion wishes
the skinned-knee ice cream cones
and the grand dreams of summers past

The man living with the child's heart
can't help but hearken to that first kiss
the sweetness of the lingering caress
and the indelicate pain of her goodbye

The soul breathing all those sighs
tries to recall what life's about
the interminable seconds of time's march
revealing the frailty of the child, the man, the soul

The grave that holds them now
cares not of Hope or Pride or any of the rest
registers not the history nor the plans
it just is what it is...a black soil nest

The revelation of a life once lived
are merely memories pages exposed
laid bare for all who care to see
the moments of what was and will no longer be. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 192 [topic] => 32 [informant] => reprobate [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

All the time spent living and loving and learning, gone in the blink of an eye. Like it never existed except in memory. Sorry for your loss.

letting them go, but not entirely. this poem is one that deserves to be commended on. your feelings were well expressed in this. and leaves one to wonder how sharp is the double edged sword of time?
