The church bell calls from miles away
Still half asleep as the child sprays chimes
- That won’t go away...

This harbour town is bleached in sunlight,
Some seek breeze in the russet shade,
Some shed their clothes and imprint the sultry sun on skin,
This summers been a vivid display,
Kids in their old familiar arcades,
Couples walking down the parade,

Fish n’ chips being fought by local seagulls,
Who aren’t afraid – even when they should be…
Of a nervous dog on a lead on the beach,
Following its owner like a leech,
He’s stronger than he looks,
And will defend his owner’s provisions like a collection of rooks.

Temptress waters towards the east
Persuading the latest boats to tiptoe away from the shores’ feast,
Carrying lovers desolate in their minds
Only the infinite water confines,
Because the romance is kept anywhere in the sun
Since it’s enjoyed by everyone.

I think you've just perfectly described the place where I live . . . how delightful! Of course, this could be just about any 'harbour town', and we're highly unlikely to live in the same one . . . but I can definately relate to probably everything written up there.

Comforting, insightful and well written.
Thanks for sharing.

I lived in a coastal town for several years and loved it. Watching the sunrise and sunsets on the beach. I really love when the storms come in and the waves pound the beach. The sounds are magnificent.
