Chasing rainbows and butterflies, child’s play
Uncertainty cast its shadow over my eyes
Dulled colors, left me to doubt myself
Scratched flame to life, unexpected delights
Taken for granted, pleasure ground into dust
Distant voices remind me of whom I once was
Curious and untamed – caught in the cage too long
Rattling the bars now and again, I rattle once more
Frustration’s bitter kiss bleeds upon my lips
Dreary passion’s tedious rain blots out the sun
Craving warmth, hungry for excitement
Soar above earthly gray cloak
Skin tingles with anticipation at your approach
Taste a kiss so sweet with freedom’s juice
Running down my chin into your hands
Songs in our heads – come out of our mouths
Harmony perfectly blended into every note
In freedom’s bliss there's so much more to give
Ritual obligation’s death march stops bleeding
Wounds heal in minutes instead of years
Each breath serene and self-aware

Oh, that one was exquisite. Makes me want to throw my pen away. Just beautiful

Splendid! Terriffic! The only thing I didn't like was the part about "tedious rain" but... everyone feels differently about rain, it's true.

And Stitch-- If you throw away you're pen, I'll cry!

Bravo and encore, Merry!!!

Lots of love,
Chelsea

Beautifully written, with sadness and exhilaration wrapped in one, a wonderful combination ... hugs Jan
