(two paths
once one
grown so far apart
finally come to their end
hollow sound
last beat
of our collective heart
never to beat as one again)
it wasn't supposed to be this way
things like this aren't supposed to end
but here we stand
fingers falling away
not giving up
not letting go
just moving on in tears
I never meant to hurt you
I hope you understand
I leave because I love you
and don't want to hurt you again
I know that you are angry
and you have every right to be
and I can't even blame you
if you finally hate me
please don't cry, don't think of it as leaving
Im just setting you free
giving you the chance to find someone better
and be as happy as you deserve to be
and even as I walk away
Ill leave my heart with you
Ill never bring you anything but pain
so Ill leave because I love you
(those paths are slowly fading
finally come to their end
and silence is the only sound
as hearts weep softly, all alone
never to beat as one again)

beautiful but very sad as well.
I can feel the love for the one left.

I loved the ability to express the emotion in this poem - the rythym came and went, but perhaps that adds to the free flow.

The intro and the epilogue in the all too fashionable () was a great touch. I mean it rocked my keyboard. Absolutly emotion grabbing. I read it with eyelifds plastered to the screen.
