[bodytext] => Thirty days in June, remember -
Not long now for lands dismembered
What you think about that, Steel?
What's your beef? How'd you feel?

This is no handover, it’s nothing real
This is what I truly feel
It’s sovereignty only in name
No more really than a game

A game of what? Of cat and mouse?
I know the cat’s in the White House –
A Cheshire cat, it hides - we seek
Truth as it grins and falsehood speaks . . .

Yeah - Its tactic is for skulls to grin again
To distract us from the growing pain
And make us think all’s well - okay
And vote for Bush come election day

But surely, Steel – he’s too unfit
No presidential etiquette
Could see him through another four . . ?
But what if he should win this war?

Truly, they know not WHAT to do
It really is a mess
Iraq sovereignty - what does it mean?
You do not have to guess . . .

I don’t, it’s true, but I’ll take a shot
Like marines in old Najaf
Perhaps it means Iraq’s been bought
And they’ve deployed the chaff!

The political tactics are very clear
The troops still hold ALL power
They'll give a few speeches then they'll say:
“See democracy in flower!”

It won’t take long to wilt o’er there
Beneath the Arab sun –
The Mujahideen blood boils to bear
Their arms ‘till death be won . . .
