To pierce your heart in just the way
That you pierced mine that fateful day

I need to borrow the words you said
To whisper them gently into your ear
So confessions of love you’d also hear

I need to borrow your sweet touch
So I might give you pleasures new
As I tenderly lay my hands upon you

I need to borrow your gentle eyes
To see love as you so clearly do
So you will know that I live for you

I need to borrow your heart so pure
To fill the space that was left in me
When I gave my own heart up to thee

I need to borrow one final thing
Let me have your soul for just a bit
So I may learn how to care for it

Oh! If only I could be just like you
And make you feel the way I do
I’d give back every thing you lent

Beautiful, SNM. Love is a bittersweet emotion. But you definitely know the words that make it seem magical again. Thank you for sharing.

Found another keeper. Tender, honest, and evidence of a love that is/was patient, and long suffering, but in some ways, not enough?
(To peirce your heart in just the way, that you pierced mine that fateful day.) As well as: (Oh! If only I could be like you. And make you feel the way I do.) The wish: If only.....make you feel the way I do. this says more than a fear that this isn't as overwhelming for him as it is you. This says that you know that it isn't. Driven home by the last line: When you, like me, felt content. Very powerful. and probably at the time painful. Hopefully now, bittersweet or better. Nothing squeezes the artistic juices
from the grapes of heartache like that old winepress of love. This here is a potent drink.
To be sipped sparingly, and God forbid! Never guzzled. Very good description of someone standing on the corner of Sad Street and Heartache Ave. If your still there, catch the next bus out of there to the end of the line in either direction. You'll like the fresh air and blue skies. R&R
