Array ( [sid] => 5146 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => For My Daughter [time] => 2002-10-15 21:30:00 [hometext] => I put this under poetry on dreams and wishes, because that's really all it is right now. I'm not even sure what made me write this, I guess all this thinking about the future brought it on. Anyway, blah blah blah... enough from me. [bodytext] => I知 writing you this long before you値l be born.
Even long before you池e conceived.
But I know you値l arrive one day,
You池e part of the dream that I believe.
It痴 a little glimpse into the future.
To the day you and I will meet.
I know when my eyes fix upon you,
My heart will skip a beat.
There, your first moments of life,
My daughter, so fragile and small.
I値l pick you up for the first time,
A better feeling unable to recall.
You値l have such tiny little hands,
And the most adorable little toes.
Big, wide, innocent eyes,
And a cute little button nose.
I値l look at you and be instantly in love.
You池e daddys little girl.
You値l give new meaning to my life.
You値l brighten up my world.
You値l look just like your mother.
But I think you値l have my eyes.
Holding you in my arms for the first time,
Close to my heart to silence your cries.
Your name will be Samantha.
Your mother and I chose it long ago.
We値l probably call you Sam for short,
Until out of it, you grow.
I can稚 wait to take you home.
Spoil you with dolls and toys.
Help you grow and learn every day.
And soon, protect you from little boys.
While you池e little I値l play with you,
And tie red ribbons in your hair.
When you wake up crying at 2am,
Give me a second and I値l be there.
As you begin to get older,
Past those terrible two痴,
I値l be here supporting you,
In anything you choose.
What ever makes you happy.
That痴 all I値l wish for you.
Ballet classes or sports with the boys.
Whatever you decide to do.
Once you reach those hectic teens,
Trying to figure out who you are,
I値l do my best to give you space,
And occasionally, you can borrow the car.
I値l always be here protecting you,
But I値l try not to shelter you too much.
I値l lend my advice, but try not to pry,
When it comes to your privacy and such.
When the time comes, you start to date,
Oh, what a nuisance I値l be.
I値l want to meet all your boyfriends,
To make sure they池e gentlemanly.
I値l let you lead your own life though.
Just guide you a bit, along the way.
I know whatever you do, I値l be proud,
And I値l love you every day.
I値l support you in your endeavors.
And help you through your mistakes.
Wherever life leads us, I値l stand by you,
No matter what it takes.
I hope you値l plan to go to college,
And find yourself a good career.
If you choose not to, that痴 okay too,
I値l love you no less, my dear.
When your childhood is over,
What a beautiful woman you値l be.
As you go out to face life on your own,
Remember to come back and see me.
The time will come when you find someone,
And you致e chosen a partner for life.
We値l soon have a son-in-law,
And you値l become a wife.
When your wedding day arrives,
I値l walk you down the isle,
Give my princess a kiss on the cheek,
And give you away with a smile.
But, always keep one thought with you,
As you start a family of your own.
You値l always be daddys little girl,
No matter how much you致e grown.

What a beautful poem. It made me cry. You will make a wonderful father. If only my Father were like that.
