You’re not the real thing, no…
Just an image, just a show.
An illusion of confusion,
This is my conclusion.
You’re just a carbon copy,
A bit too sloppy.
Maybe you could fool the jury,
But not my fury.
To discrete to be read,
You’re not a thoroughbred.
A glimpse, a shadow,
Not real, I’m not mad though.
Just aware, just there,
Of you’re oblivious bare.
You are false, and you smother,
You are only a surrogate mother.
Always the bridesmaid, never the bride,
Always an excuse to leave, to hide.
Maybe you see and maybe you know,
But you’re not the real thing, no…
We debate you, question what is true.
A reflection turned wrong-side out,
So close to reality,
Just a louse.
You’re not the real thing, no…
Just an image, just a show.
An illusion of confusion,
This is my conclusion. [comments] => 5 [counter] => 207 [topic] => 61 [informant] => calista [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 15 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => selfstruggles )

Agreed... very well written. For the record, I'm generally opposed to including common expressions (like "Always the bridesmaid, never the bride)... if only because I prefer the author's own unique expression--- BUT--- everything you've stuffed into this poem fits perfectly and makes it complete and full. You've made be changed my mind with this piece (and that's not easy to do!) Nicely done!

Very interesting. Really got me thinking. At the risk of sounding too much like the other people who have commented, great write.
