Rhyming words inside my head,
Alligator toenails, buttered bread
Fairground attractions, prizes galore
Delicious blancmange,"Can I have more?"
Rhyme and meter, slant and grammar
Vowel and consonant hit the keyboard, hammer
Phrases, tap the lines in-continuo
Gradually, the message evolves to show
Thoughts now words, painted black
Making sense eventually, back on track
Buttered toenails on alligator bread
Still reverberating around my head
Curious at first, to soon make sense
Future perfect or the past sure is tense
Fingers tapping, thoughts are lapping
Scriptural nonsense, or wonderment happening?
What if the reader reads between each third line?
The secret message-you'll then read mine!
Cribbling eyes begin to droop and tire,
Poetic rhymes absolve to shire.
