Born upon hatred, built on a lie
Caressing every needle prick, i glide
As falling tears of madness, evaporate within

You see within this mirror, such emptiness
A reflection captured, lost in time
Locked inside a prison with no walls
Remembering each silent song, that was never sung

To walk along a path where no man has ever set foot
Each step but a void of hollow sounds and screams
Slowly walking down this road of mortal coil
I envelop in my destiny, living to never see death

I yearn for the object that mere men cower from
How sweet fate has decided an ironic justice
To take my life would be like poetry in motion
But lady fate would condemn me to live forever

Love is such a cruel and heartless beast
Taking no prisoners in its endless grasp of damnation
To watch everything you love so dear leave this world
Knowing that you can never join them in their bliss

As gently as the steps of suicide I tread the earth forever
Watching as my every passion dies out with my soul
I am left with nothing but a hollow shell of hatred
And a song... that was never sung

This was . . . harrowing. I'll leave it at that.

Keep writing, Luke.

So full of gentle venom. Wonderful expression of the soft and subtle thoughts that drive one to self destruction. Those emotions and thoughts are so difficult to put into words but you did beautifully.

A poetic mind (or more aptly- heart) can make pain and longing beautiful... can make even suicide seem romantic... can touch another soul with simple, honest words. You, my friend, have done just that. You brought me back to a day (long ago) when my mind was filled with the same kind of thoughts... and it was just as you've described it here - painful and yet poetic, dramatic and yet gentle. Looking back I can only think... I wouldn't ever change that day for the new understanding it brought me. I'm glad to have listened but never acted - Oh! what I would have missed if had stepped.

Incredible, beautiful write - full of gently stated yet intense moments. You have captured me with this piece.

Walking along side you and promising, without hesitation, that you will sing one day,
SNM

What a powerful write......I was held spellbound from the first line to the last Luke. You have put to pen some of the best phrases I have ever had the honor of reading here, or anywhere else for that matter. A work of poetic art in its deep, deep despair and sadness.

Forget the glasses barkeep and just leave this man a bottle of your finest.

Hauntingly thought-provoking. Again, you strike with beautiful, memorable phrases; not to mention ungodly words and an astounding poetic flair. I like the way you think, with such depth.

"To take my life would be like poetry in motion
But lady fate would condemn me to live forever"

As great as all of your work is, that just may be my favorite line of yours. From the somewhat cryptic title, all the way through to the heart-piercing finale, this is solid gold.

Hung upside down and gutted with a sword,
-V.S.

Left me wanting more, that was bloody good to say the least.
