Had to get it off my mind. Please comment [bodytext] => The world is beautiful, that's what they say
Perhaps they don't see the way people are living each day
In the streets, the children are crying as their parents lay dying
A daughter's hope fades away as she gets rid of her life by inflicting pain
Soon she dies because she bleeds
Thousands are homeless left alone on the streets
People hungry, tired and poor
People get beat and broken
Poor little boy never fit in
Found his father's gun
And put his life to an end
Oh, but this cold, dark world is so beautiful to me [comments] => 4 [counter] => 204 [topic] => 13 [informant] => Katie2008 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

Strange. I just got back from driving across town and didn't see any of that. Where you *do* see it is on the news, which is not an accurate reflection of what is really out there. They don't tell you about the hundred people who left the hospital today, cured of what could have been fatal. They don't tell you that 100 people got hired today, who had been out of work for three months. They don't tell you *those* things...

If those things are ALL you see where you live, then you need to move - anyway you can.

If we had a cure for mental illness, maybe a lot of this could be relieved because an awful lot of poverty is caused by mental illnesses and disabilities.

although timebot makes an excellent point, I find that there are too many people who are suicidal, and I know this from experience. People who cut themselves to feel better...it really can be horrible out there. but it's not completely horrible in the world...there just seems to be a lot of it.

thanks for listening to me ramble, lol,
acy
