Array ( [sid] => 55224 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => IRELANDS ~ CONFLICT [time] => 2004-07-07 20:49:17 [hometext] => This actually happened. But when I tried to find a news article on it I couldn't. So if this article sounds familiar please point me in the right direction. Thanks. [bodytext] => The World News Tonight a daily routine,
The 21 century is can be obscene,
One would think as civilization reinvents,
That humans would learn good intents,
But tis not true ~ Tis such a shame,
That humankind is still to blame.
It matters not the subject at hand,
War can be found on most any land,
War to be waged and lingers for years,
Fought not by soldiers but family and tears,
Pick a land and ask the reason,
The sad truth is there is no treason.
In Ireland it is a religious war,
Catholic vs. Protestant is the core,
Regular folks who live on regular streets,
Who live regular lives and have regular beliefs,
They become vicious, mean and cruel,
When faced with a religion not their tool,
These regular adults with children of their own,
Have been known to bomb a neighbors home,
Killing, maiming and inciting riots
A daily routine ~ Violence their diet.
But today even seemed worse,
Little girls were the aim of this curse,
Their first day of school walking with moms,
They were insulted, assaulted and almost bombed,
Police tried their best to protect the young ladies,
The truth is they were warring on babies.
Catholics ~ Protestants ~ They have the same God.
How will they reside on Heaven’s Sod? [comments] => 1 [counter] => 176 [topic] => 57 [informant] => tifrob [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => war )

I have heard of the terrible civil war in Ireland but not in a while. You do a wonderful job of bringing an issue that needs attention to the minds of your readers. Your words are sorrowfully true. This is a heart-wrentching poem and I am glad that your heart was strong enough to write it.
