Array ( [sid] => 55635 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Long Live the Queen [time] => 2004-07-10 17:25:50 [hometext] => **I am clinically depressed and right now, I’m going through one of my downs. I’ve never written during this time because it scares me to think of the kinds of things I could write, but now I’ve written. It’s a bit harsh on me. ** [bodytext] => A peasant girl of trailer trash, a mother’s spoiled brat
A brand new life she started and traded in her hat
She started in a trailer where dirt is protocol
She moved into a house and swore she’d be rid of it all

A quaint façade it proved at first to hide the inner slime
To hush it up, the filth, the muck, the gross, putrescent grime
Some stroke of brilliance shed her way, she gained a little luck
With luck came pride and quite near haught but at home its just muck

She’s traded hats for queenly crowns and makes a smooth actress
She goes straight home-instantly drowns in queenly, dirty *****
From off afar she seems a catch-a cutie, sweet and fair
Take a little closer look; she’s covered in dark hair

All hail the queen! Bow to her now! Proclaim that she’s a friend
But once you gaze upon the beast, you’ll meet untimely end
A knight in shining armor is a sweet and kindly prince
He may be blind but sees the filth and ne’er aloud did wince

Love may be slightly of near sight but can’t be purely blind
A prince deserves much more than grime—no matter if he’s kind
She’s holding on for just a while so she won’t feel alone
When she’s sitting high on horse atop her dirty throne.

The queen is grand, the queen is great, the queen gets all she wants
Except for when the pain, it screams, and she can’t qui’t the taunts
Bow to the queen of filthiness for that’s what she reigns o’er
Long live the queen-she hates her life, so grant her all the more.

I think it's good to express the angst we feel towards ourselves. This is a very good piece of work. Sometimes some of the best poetry comes out when we are down. Again this is beautiful in my eyes.
Angel always...joni

The raw truth. What really bites is we usually write the best when we're unhappy.

This is a very insightful look at yourself during a time of darkness. It is amazing how we pull ourselves further down during these periods. I have to say though that this is a very strong and emotional piece of work. Maybe you should write it out more so you can see how far down you go in one of the periods and that way maybe it can help you in the future not to allow it to be so hard.

Ouch! That is a bit hard on yourself, Chels. Alas, how we do not see that at heart, we're all something like this, and that the single best thing about this old world is when such a heart is picked up, rinsed clean, and filled with light. Let's keep our eyes on that, shall we?
Blessings
Andrew
