Learn, don't regret

You write your twisted, ugly prose Cut deep, watch as your blood flows Just a phase your going through Those teenage way hold onto you
Adult habits forge their marks In empty houses and moonlit parks Experimenting drink and drugs A dark and dreary future tugs
You write those words And sing your curse There's nothing left that we can do Except for hold on tight to you
I know that the disease is spreading I feel infected, dirty, rotting Putrid from the lies and anger No reason to resist for longer
Now you've passed the curse to me You no longer need to be Lone, defensive in your ways Your mind's alive, your heart's ablaze
The toil is through, we near the end Is this the last I'll know of my friend Who can't let go, nor share the truth That threatens to break her love of youth
She makes her choice, moves on once more Till Satan's rapping at her door She's tempted fate and fate's been tempted Risking what she knows is sacred
Little Miss. Her, too high to ascert That what she is doing is going to hurt All of those around her, especially him The prospect of adulthood's far too grim It grows much closer, our innocence is lost What it is replaced by, isn't worth the cost

I'm afraid I don't type very well at 5a.m. after being awake all night; another poem, another mistake. This time I've left an 's' off 'way' in the second line.
Again, apologies. |

Oh please - you have nothing to apologize for! I wish I was half as well spoken as you when I was younger! AND surely I was not as insightful. I'm really amazed that you've 'seen' so much and pondered it so fully. This is a terrific, thoughtful poem - laced with a bit of sadness and loss. Really, really well done!
Impressed -
