Memories rush back to me
Of long ago times when we were there
Of you, of me
And what we shared

Then down the bank and towards the rocks
My senses heighten, taking stock
Of familiar sounds serenading me
The water, falling
The rustle of leaves

O’er rocks in shapes that make no sense
Full of holes and strange crevices
Of many desperate, stagnant pools
Filled with the tears
Of a lovesick fool

I sat there alone until the sun fell down
Dreaming as the moon came ‘round
Of one day again returning here
With you, my love
Some distant year

For the moon, the water, the rocks and me
Are aching with the memory
Of long ago days and selfless love
Of laughter, dreams

Ah, wishful thinking and nostalgic thoughts.
You've captured it so well.
Bravo SNM, I think you're truly a talented writer.

I love the style, very well written, and full of remorse.
It's ok to stop and remember, but don't forget to keep moving on.

Memories.. so many memories, the only human biological link the the past we lived filled with tears and laughter, love and sorrow, pain and happiness, and yet no matter how long ago it happened those right memeories always seem like yesterday, something are beautiful about the human mind, but they always come with such a high price, why is it so many of these memeories are the ones that make us cry.

I feel your ever word like i spoke them myself, talent is a gift that we should use to brighten the days of all those around us, i think you just created the sun my friend

This poem makes me wish I was there.
But, the ending grabs with
"For the moon, the water, the rocks and me
Are aching with the memory
Of long ago days and selfless love
Of laughter, dreams
And all that was"

Good piece.

*jaw drops*

*is stunned*

Absolutely breath-taking . . . poignant, beautiful, powerful, and really quite perfect. Your talent shines through here and it's a pleasure to behold. And the last stanza is just amazing.

Nostalgia written so gracefully and in a seemingly peaceful state of mind. Love lost is, to me, better than no love at all, no matter how painful. Wishing you much love in the future.

Truly moving to tears. Hopes and dreams, dashed and before you know it, just a memory of what one hoped may be. Oh you have such a way with words.

I have walked through similar memories. Letting to and moving forward is so hard. That's achingly obvious here, and yet there is a sense of hope. I like it.

Never being disappointed when I visit your page
