I awake today only to find
Trouble and heartache on my mind,
Try as I may there seems no way out
Destined to hurt, cry, and doubt.

I look around, do I care about friends,
Asking myself, just look at them.
Smiling and happy as they as they go on their way
If only in my shoes they walked today.

I lay back at night and try to sleep,
Only to lie there, worry and weep.
Doubt and fear invade my thoughts,
Holding me hostage from what I’ve been taught.

Yet somehow I realize in all my despair,
That this is a valley, and God placed me here.
At this point his reason unknown,
But he’s promised me that I won’t be alone.

Determination not always enough,
He’s given me friends when the going gets rough.
So in this valley I stand today
Knowing Gods promise of brighter days.

With that in mind, it soon becomes clear,
That for every valley a mountain is near.
As I look toward that mountain, just there at the top
A ray of warmth has made me stop.

For God has placed that light for me,
So that I would know that I soon would see.
From the darkest of valleys, the lowest of thoughts
God will show us that “mountaintop.”

“Mountaintop”

And so He does if we just take the time to look and have faith in Him.
