Trembling and frightened
Thrown carelessly from my slumber
By a nightmare, spun by memories
Of his cruel words and harsh embrace

My face . . .
Stained with tears
Remembering how he hurt me
Looking at my own reflection
And seeing a wasted life

My heart . . .
Ever-fearful, bound by regret
Sleepless nights turning into tragic days
Reminding myself to keep breathing
Despite not wanting to live

A friend . . .
Hours spent on the phone, painting dreams
Sharing some stories with smiles
And other with tears
Finding hope in the promise of a new day

A meeting . . .
The excitement of seeing you in the flesh
Face to face for the first time
Your arms around me like we'd know each other all our lives
A new attraction that could not be ignored

A romance . . .
The first kiss that seemed to last for hours
Holding hands and laughing
Weeping together when you had to leave
Knowing fate had lent a hand

A love . . .
Missing your silly jokes and funny smile
Hearing your sweet, sexy voice from miles away
Knowing we would meet again
Then never be apart

Forever . . .
Feeling you beside me again
Building dreams together, smiling all the way
Still holding hands and laughing

Very well expressed.
A little sad, but quite unique.
