why can't I be more like you?
My thighs are too big and so is my waist,
I wish that somehow I was little again!
My feet keep on growing,
they never will stop,
and I really hate the size of my top.
My nose is too big and so is my chin.
I wish that somehow I was little again!
I've just about covered everything I can,
I just don't like myself
the way that I am. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 147 [topic] => 43 [informant] => smldvl [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )

It's a shame that women raised in this culture are constantly told throughout their lives that they have to look a certain way in order for them to feel good about themselves. The truth is that looks don't have anything to do with who a person is. What is so devestating, is that women are conditioned to think that they are nothing more than what they look like. And as a result you find women, who only care about what they look like, which ultimately does not matter. Then it becomes impossible to have a meaningful conversation with them. The women I am attracted to have strong, unique personalities, and aren't afraid to be themselves, no matter how society has conditioned them to be. So no matter what, be true to yourself, and people who are also true to themselves will notice that, and you will be drawn to each other.

I really liked this poem cuz I feel exactly the same way. Sometimes I like myself just for being me and other times I listen to what others say. But I know that even though I'm not society's "ideal" weight doesn't mean I'm any different than anybody else. Sometimes I hate myself too but there's a lot more things out there in the world to enjoy. Looks aren't everything. You're beautiful just the way you are.
