Array ( [sid] => 58867 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Ode to my rabbit [time] => 2004-08-04 11:36:02 [hometext] => This poem is for my 5 year old rabbit. [bodytext] => I saw you one day,
a white blur in the road.
I was so worried for you
I couldn't wait to take you home.

When I brought you home,
we loved you, took you out your cage.
How was I to know
this would only be a stage?

The first few years were wonderful,
you healthy and happy.
But then my life got busier,
you started doing poorly.

I didn't notice it at first,
and for this I feel so bad.
If I would have only seen,
maybe I wouldn't be so sad.

I tried so hard to help you,
I just didn't know what to do.
I finally fix one problem,
and up pop another two.

Today you had a siezure,
as I held you in my hands.
I felt my heart break,
please know this wasn't planned.

I realize your time is near,
I tell you that I care.
I'm glad you won't be in pain
but the sadness is too much to bear. [comments] => 6 [counter] => 229 [topic] => 29 [informant] => MDodgen [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 15 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => PetPoems )

This is so precious and sad. I had a bunny one time and I loved him so much. They are the sweetest pets. He and a kiten were roommates and the best of friends. They are very frail creatures and died at age 4. He sure was a sweetie though.

Aww, Mel... I'm sorry to hear your bunny isn't doing well. (hugs to bunny!) We have a brand new Netherland Dwarf bunny at our house (my daughter's birthday present). I'm already way too in love with that silly little bunny (who's name- lol! - is "Bunny").

Thinking you were both lucky to have found each other,
SNM

Your poem brought tears to my eyes. I own a bunny who's a year and a half old and she's my everything,so believe me when I tell you I understand what you're feeling.I couldn't imagine my life without her, much less her having a seizure while I couldn't do anything.Instead I'm the one having seizures while she licks my feet. And when I wake up from them,I always see her face and it brings my spirits up,so she must feel the same way towards you. It's never really goodbye, heaven reserves a special place for us alongside our pets.I'm just so sorry you have to go through this.Hang in there and beautifully written,
PumpkinPie
