There's so much more to me
Than what you can see
Why am I the mistake
At least what people see me as isn't fake
You try and hide your true identity
Just to make me look like I'm crazy
I don't understand why others can't see
That you are merely
Just a violent human being
How can you live each day
Knowing that your daughter is slipping away
.......far from you
Never to come back
To all the pain you put me through
For as long as you live
You will be reminded
Of the awful things you did
Don't expect me to forget them
Or to be forgiven
This all could have been prevented
If only you were stronger and not blinded
You're blinded from the fact you could have changed
My whole history could have been rearranged
I've figured it all out
I know what you're all about
You're taking your past out on me
When you shouldn't be
I know my right from wrong
And I'll continue to stand strong
You may be able to bring me down
But in the end you'll be wearing the frown
I control my own future
And I'll go farther
Than you ever expected
Because I learned
That if I changed my ways
I can be who I am today
I'm no longer handing you my heart to break
Because I know now that I'm not the mistake! [comments] => 2 [counter] => 158 [topic] => 48 [informant] => WestCPunk [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

This is a great poem... your mom sounds like mine.... I like the ending, some hope for the future.... and may yours be as bright as your soul...

No, shelbi, YOU are not the mistake. The mistake is the actions of a sad and angry person. Never let anyone make you feel you are a mistake. We all have a purpose in life. You are a beautiful, talented and personal young woman who will go far in life.

Love,
Rita
