It is an obscure realm,
my lost, cryptic den. It
reeks of resentment,
spawns distaste,
deters visitors.

My secret weapon and
my downfall, growing steadily within,
unfolding it's arms like a long
drawn out story you've heard before.

What is a part of me, becomes
a struggling duality.
Good and evil,
right and wrong,
my future, my past.

It pushes me to succeed,
plans my escape,
waits maniacally for me to reach the end
of my allotted length of rope
doomed to fall.

How difficult it is to keep my demon at bay
on nights like this.
I am the horror movie in which the girl always falls,
strengthening the pace,
lengthening the race.
I am the victim, it's captor,
the torment, and it's rapture. [comments] => 7 [counter] => 173 [topic] => 48 [informant] => girltranscended [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 15 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

WOW!!!!!!!! (... that's three of 'em if your counting)

This is truly an incredible write. It reaches in deep and grabs at the core, you know?

strengthening the pace,
lengthening the race.
I am the victim, it's captor,
the torment, and it's rapture.

Incredible. Such an profound capturing of this moment in time. It's as if you caught time and place and thought and emotion in a trap and dumped it out here. Extremely well done!

I am so very glad I didn't miss this,
SNM

I actually had to read this twice before I really grasped it and could relate to it. Once it clicked I was hooked!

I have to say my favorite part was, like the others, the very last lines.

I am the victim, it's captor
the torment, and it's rapture.

Really powerful message, well executed!

Everybody loves a rhyme, we know.

But I think these are the best lines of the piece -

"growing steadily within,
unfolding it's arms like a long
drawn out story you've heard before."

An excellent adventure.
